SBS Bearings: 20 Years of Growing and Thriving

The 27^th of May 2025 marks an incredible milestone for all of us here at

SBS – Singa Bearings Solutions Pte Ltd (hereafter known as SBS Bearings).

20 years in the business with customer-driven excellence!

Here at SBS, we have given and continue to give our very best.

We ensure our customers and their operations grow and thrive for years to come. Through the past two decades of careful research, meaningful collaboration and continuous improvement, we have managed to build upon our reliable reputation and deliver only the best.

As we look back on our journey, here is some insight from my interview with

Daniel Hallauer (Chief Executive Officer).

Congratulations on 20 years of SBS – Singa Bearings Solutions Pte Ltd!

How were you first inspired to get involved in the sliding bearings business?

Daniel Hallauer:

“My father was the man who introduced me to the world of sliding bearings.

I want to take this opportunity to thank him for showing me the ropes since I was a young boy. Thank you for believing in me when I chose to risk the unusual and take the road less travelled. You taught me never to settle for the ordinary and this has made all the difference. You will always be a big part of SBS’s story – past, present and future.”

What, then, was the very first SBS® product to be sold?

Daniel Hallauer:

“It was our TEF-MET® bushing for an order of SGD485!”

Great to hear! Our TEF-MET® has definitely maintained its position as one our core products.

What are some of the biggest challenges SBS® Bearings have had to face – and how did SBS overcome them?

Daniel Hallauer:

“SBS has faced a number of challenges in our many years of experience. An example was when one of our clients required assistance to design bushings but they were difficult to lubricate. Thus, facing severe contamination and overload.

We addressed these issues efficiently by providing our technical expertise. We proceeded to design innovative products – collaborating with the customer during the whole process – and optimizing bearing selection and maintenance.

Another big challenge was during the pandemic. SBS actually managed to deliver large-sized spherical bearings for a Hydropower Plant to Hubei Province from Germany by rail. We made it just in time before all borders were closed!”

Daniel Hallauer:

In terms of quality, the SBS Bearings team emphasizes attention to detail and high standards. This is evident by our ISO 9001:2015 certification.

We also see innovation as crucial for staying competitive and meeting evolving customer needs.

This is, of course, paired with integrity. SBS aims to build trust by acting with integrity at all times. We treat all people alike fairly and respectfully.

When it is needed, we evolve! While we adapt specific wording to changing vocabulary and understanding, the overarching values of prioritizing customer needs, delivering high-quality products, and maintaining integrity are long-standing.

This is what makes us reliable and strong.”

How has this affected operations and what does SBS Bearings do to keep up team morale?

Daniel Hallauer:

We evolve when needed – supporting and caring for our fellow SBS team members. The engineering, manufacturing, sales, marketing and after-sales team function cohesively. We work together to provide flexible, worthwhile solutions managing varying complexity levels.”

How have SBS® products evolved over the past 20 years and what do you expect for the next 20 years?

Daniel Hallauer:

“Over the past 20 years, SBS Bearings has focused on quality and reliability.

Over time, we evolve our product offerings to meet the demands of various industries, particularly mining. We have expanded our product range, developed new materials and designs and implemented innovative solutions for bearing failures.

For the next 20 years to come, we expect further advancements in materials, designs. We see the integration of smart technologies, focusing on longevity, efficiency, and sustainability.”
